Hi everybody,
I hope everyone has their thinking caps on because this is a weird one.
I just got back from the dealer and the mechanic there has no clue as to what could be causing my problem.
About two weeks ago, I noticed that occasionaly when turning the ignition switch to "on", the following electrical components did not work: headlight, front signal lights (although when they blinked when activated by the turn signal switch), and the horn. Everything else worked fine-the starter, the rear light, and the brake light. Also, the instrument panel lights worked. I jiggled the large, black wrapped wire running from under the tank to the headlight and the lights came on. This has happened frequently since that time, most noticeably after the bike has been sitting for awhile. Sometimes, I just have to touch the wire slightly and the lights will come on. If I jiggle the wire while the lights are on, I can, on occasion, get them to flicker slightly, but only rarely does this occur. Once the light is on, it stays on during riding, turning, etc. I removed the tank to check the connections and everything looked tight. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. Thanks.
Ride safe,
Bob A.
